About Glenwood, AR

Where nature and business thrive.

Glenwood is a small town located on the Caddo River in Pike and Montgomery Counties in southwest Arkansas about 30 miles west of Hot Springs.  Glenwood's early growth was shaped by agriculture, timber, and its location along the Caddo River, which served as an important resource for transportation and livelihoods.

Glenwood was incorporated on May 6th, 1909, following a boom in the timber industry and the establishment of a lumber mill.  It developed into a small but thriving rural town with local businesses, schools, and churches forming the backbone of the community. The arrival of improved roadways and regional connections helped sustain its economy as industries evolved.

Today, Glenwood is known for its strong sense of community, historic downtown, and identity as an outdoor recreation destination in the Ouachita Mountains.
